Father’s Day comes once a year on the 3rd Sunday in June in the United States. In 2009, it comes on June 21. Naturally, the holiday is celebrated in other countries too. Great Britain, Canada, Chile, France, Japan, Malta and India celebrate it on the same day as the United States. Our friends down under in New Zealand and Australia, however, celebrate it in September Over in the Scandinavian countries, such as Finland, Sweden and Norway, they celebrate it on the second Sunday in November. There are also a small number of other countries that celebrate it on random dates through out the year.
Crafters and people who want to save a little money have already started searching the Internet for free Father’s Day cards. With so many card images available on the web, it’s easy to find a card that will be just right for your dad. Vintage cards seem to be getting more and more popular for Father’s Day, because so many dads and grandfathers are of a “vintage” that they would appreciate them. People also search for vintage Father’s Day clipart to create their own cards, e-mail greetings or even Father’s Day brunch invitations. Savvy searchers bookmark those resources so they can go right back to them the next year. Good free vintage art isn’t that easy to find, so it pays to think ahead.
Some want to give their dads more than a card but don’t have the money, so they’re likely to look for printable certificates. A free certificate can be used instead of or in addition to a handmade card and makes a lovely no-cost Father’s Day gift. If you want to, you can always buy a frame to house the certificate. To keep the cost down, you can find one at a local dollar store. You father will never know it’s an inexpensive gift! And isn’t this special day all about honoring your dad anyway? Your father will know it’s your love that’s important, not the cost of the gift.
