Now that October is here, as we all know Halloween is in a few weeks. These next few weeks can be used to find a costume, making decorations, and get ready to go trick-or-treating. Halloween can be used to bring the whole family together for a wonderful fun filled evening.

However, celebrating a safe Halloween should be important to everyone. This means taking a little time to plan your evening . Special attention should be paid when looking for a good Halloween costume. You want to make sure when picking out a Halloween costume for children that they are bright and reflective so that they are easy to spot. Another important aspect is the makeup. While many parents prefer to give their children masks to wear, it is advisable to use non-toxic makeup instead. Masks can hinder vision or cause breathing problems. Make sure all costumes that come with wigs that they are fire resistant.
All costumes need accessories. Make sure they are soft and pliable. You should really take this in to consideration for accessories like swords, knives, guns and sticks. You do not want a potential weapon in your children’s hand neither do you want your children to injure themselves with the accessories.
Who doesn’t like to decorate their front yards with scary monsters? However, make sure that your front lawn is well-lit so that you are not forced to see the insides of a court or have to rush one of your kids to the nearest hospital. This care should be taken also with flower pots, garden hoses and jutting tree roots.
Any Halloween celebration is incomplete with trick-or-treat. Chart out a route for the children to take and make sure an adult accompanies them. Carry a flashlight so that you are prepared in case one of the children wonders off into a dark alley. If the children are not accompanied by an adult, make sure they have their own flashlights and educate them not to enter into people’s homes and vehicles. But as far as possible do not send the children out on their own.
