When most Westerners arrive in Kuala Lumpur, they expect a typical third world city with pollution and a couple of slums. Kuala Lumpur, the capital of Malaysia, therefore comes as quite a surprise to most of them. This lovely, green and modern city offers everything a 21st century city should offer.

The Petronas towers used to be the tallest building on earth until 2004 - when Taipei 1 was constructed. The towers are up to this day still the tallest twin buildings on the planet. Inside there’s a stunning, huge shopping mall and thousands of offices.

Many tourists flock to the Kuala Lumpur Chinese market at night. In this sprawling warren of stalls you will find nearly everything you can think of. I compared a couple of prices to those back home and they were very reasonable indeed. Especially the prices of ebook readers and other electronic equipment were way lower than what it would cost in a Western city. And afterward our group dined in a lovely Chinese restaurant not far from there.

While dining at our hotel I studied the beautiful dining room chair I was sitting on. Upon enquiry I was told that it was made of Malaysian rubberwood. It came as quite a surprise to notice how heavy and solid it was and to see the beautiful texture of the wood. Later the same day I checked out the prices of a complete dining room suite and immediately ordered one. Even with delivery charges included it was still a huge bargain.

You will have no problem with public transport In Kuala Lumpur The city is the proud owner of a very modern, very clean subway system that will take you everywhere in town in a couple of minutes. Ticket prices are very affordable if you compare it to prices in most Western cities.

A short flight from Kuala Lumpur you will find the beautiful island paradise of Penang. It has been a popular holiday resort for both Malaysians and foreigners for many years. On this hot, tropical island you will not only find beautiful beaches, but also the largest butterfly farm in the world. Make sure your hotel has air conditioning though - it really gets steamy here.

While you are visiting Malaysia, why not combine business with pleasure and make a reservation for one of their numerous effective communication and self-awareness courses at nlp Singapore? These courses can have a profound effect on the way that you manage both your professional and personal life. Since Singapore is only a short flight or bus trip away from Kuala Lumpur, it won’t add much to the total cost of your trip and it could have a lasting effect on your career and private life.
