Usually with the build up of anticipation on Christmas Eve, you can sometimes forget to play games. Since many people can't sleep anyway because of the excitement, playing a few games can be a good way to pass the time.

The Christmas Eve Version of a Hunt

The idea is to create a complete hunt where kids have to follow clues to find gifts. Instead of placing the gift under the Christmas tree, place it elsewhere so the children need to carefully follow the clues to find it. Write your clues on extra Christmas cards or index cards cut into the shape of Christmas bells. It's even possible to write the clues on Christmas ornaments that are paper or cardboard.

It doesn't matter where you write your clues as long as you leave them throughout the house. Hand each player their first clue. It could say something like "you eat dinner here" and the player would then probably run to the dining room table. On the table you have to place an additional clue stating something like "we put this on cereal" and another clue then affixed to the milk carton. The last clue can be the actual Christmas gift itself.

Christmas Version of Musical Chairs

Play fun, happy Christmas tunes that everyone is familiar with. Make the players sing along and dance as they run around the chairs. With everyone dancing and singing, usually one or two players do not realize when the music stops. The person that loses is the one that doesn't have a chair when the Christmas music stops which is like the classic version of musical chairs.

The Christmas Version of a Card Game

You should consider playing with cards on Christmas Eve because Christmas cards are for sale weeks before Christmas Eve? Set up a gift box or laundry basket a few feet away so guests can try to toss the Christmas cards into the basket. Though it seems easy, cards are all different shapes, weights and sizes.

One last thing — Imagine the look on your child’s face if they received a personalized letter from Santa in the North Pole. It's a gift that makes a strong and lasting impression.
