There are some truly unique items available at the medinas, such as local spices, handmade leather goods and delicate pottery, all of which will serve as a pleasant reminder of your time in Morocco.
Pay close attention when you are visiting the souqs, as many people don’t realize they also feature something called fuduqs. Fuduqs are a classic home/shop arrangement, with the street level of the building devoted to the store and the upper levels set aside for the merchant’s living quarters. At one time these buildings were made with mud brick, but now, with a nod to more practicality, they’re made of cement. Sound interesting? Of course it does.
