How I Managed to Save My Holiday with Portaloo Hire After completing my exams, my friends and I decided to go camping in DevonBecause we were all heading off to our separate colleges and universities, we wanted this to be a holiday to remember. The campsite was pretty basic, but it didn’t matter, it was next to the beach and had an awesome panorama. We spent the days sunbathing and swimming and at night we would build a campfire and chat to the early hours of the morning.
One night, the weather went from good to bad with torrential rain beating down on our tent.We obviously decided to stay in the tent and played cards til the early morning. The weather was awful, but our tent was as tough as old boots and weathered the storm well.We awoke the next morning and walked down to the showers to find out that the toilets were in disrepair because the bad weather had caused floods.
The farmer who owned the campsite was in a bad situation - he had 150 campers but no toilet facilities for them to visit. The health and safety aspect was pretty big - so the door of his house was open for anyone who was desperate to go.He looked very angry as he tried unsuccessfully to get a plumber to do an emergency call out.I reached in to get my mobile and camly rang my dad.I was about to save the situation - my dad was managing director of a Porta Loo company!
I arranged for the hire of ten portaloos to arrive as quick as possible.I told the farmer what I had organised and he was so grateful.Within the hour one of my Dad’s Porta Loo the driver arrived with the lovely portable toilets on the back. After the driver had a bit of a giggle at the poor farmer’s expense, he told him that he could keep them onsite until his normal toilets and plumbing had been repaired.
My friends and I spent that day at the beach, the sun was beating down and when I returned to the tent that evening, the farmer and his wife had left a thank you note, with some porkpies and bottles of their farm’s own cider. We sat down and enjoyed the presents, and soon bacame best friends with the farmer and his wife.It just goes to show that knowing someone in the portaloo hire business can come in very uselful sometimes!
