Do you know the secret of travelling cheaply to foreign countries? It’s the same as the secret to doing something for less. Discover how to be an opportunist. Opportunistic travelers get to travel more, see more and do more. You can of course ignore this advice if you have unlimited funds.
Whatever your budget it is essential to take out some discount Travel Insurance, to cover yourself in case of an emergency.
I went to Chile because it was cheap. Honestly, are there not plenty of interesting places in this world? Why not select one you can travel to inexpensively? The remaining places will be there in the future, and you may have a chance to go to those places cheaply at some other time.
One of my favorite places to visit is definitely Ecuador. You can still get a wholesome meal for nine U.S. dollars, by the way, since that is conveniently the official currency of Ecuador. From the beautiful snow-capped Andes mountains, to the Galapagos Islands, you’ll hardly ever run out of places to explore in Ecuador. Travel there is cheap and not very expensive.
Cheap Countries To Visit
One of the countries that are still cheap to visit and also one of the most stunning is South America. These are the countries alongside the Andes mountains; Bolivia, Peru and Ecuador. Due to it’s fairly recent economic issues, is yet again an affordable travel destination.
In Central America, it costs little to travel and holiday in both Guatemala and Nicaragua.Nicaragua, especially, has become more stable and safe for travelers in the last few years. Costa Rica is also wonderful and although it’s one of the more expensive countries in Central America, it is most likely still cheaper than most European destinations.
In Asia, India is still cheap, provided you stay in the numerous hostels and boarding houses. Indonesia and Thailand are also low-cost. With all international destinations, the plane tickets will be your single largest expense to bear. This is also true with the Asian countries. Staying there is affordable, but getting there will certainly not be.
Cheap Worldwide Travel Tips
Wherever you go, there are things you can do to keep it cheap. Eat at the same places the locals eat, for example, instead of the restaurants that tourists normally frequent. To keep costs down, eat vegetables and fruit from street markets (well washed) and pre-packed snacks from local stores.
There are a variety of discount Travel Insurance policies available to suit all needs. It is essential to take out adequate Travel Insurance in case of emergencies.
Why not look out for the local attractions that you can visit for little or no cost at all. It’s likely you’ll have so much enjoyment that you’ll rarely get around to visiting the expensive places. A higher price means better quality with travel luggage, but not with travel experiences.
If possible, ask where the local visitors stay when visiting the city you are staying in. This is a great way to find cheap accomodation. Negotiating room prices is commonplace in some areas. In Banos, Ecuador, we haggled to get our room rate down from $13 to $7 per night, by offering to pay for a week in advance. Consider hostels, if you are ok with sharing a room. This is much more common than it is overseas.
Although using busses is a cheap option, you must be alert to the dangers of pickpockets in crowded areas. Jogging is even cheaper, and it’s a great way to learn about a city. Check with the locals where the dangerous areas are before you venture too far.
Nearly always, your biggest cost when travelling overseas will be your airfares.Use the tips provided in this article to save on tickets, or research the fares to a number of attractive countries. If one is $400 less than some others, consider going there instead. $400 can give you a few extra days, or an additional mini-holiday in the future. You could also use this money to take out winter skiing Travel Insurance or whatever other Travel Insurance you may need.
