The people of Vanuatu were once voted “The Happiest People on Earth” - and a Vanuatu holiday will show you why this South Pacific paradise earned the title. There are several aspects to tourism in Vanuatu, with it’s capital city, Port Vila being a regular South Pacific cruise ship stop over.

Although Port Vila is the main tourist spot, other islands offer great scuba diving and active volcanoes. Sailfish and Marlin offer particularly attractive Game Fishing in Vanuatu. Water sports are also popular, with Parasailing, Water Skiing, Yatching and the new Rocket Jet all poular on Port Vila’s crystal clear blue waters.

Did You Know … Vanuatu has the world’s “First Underwater Post Office? You can buy special waterproof postcards, available from shops on land. You then scuba dive three metres down to have your postcards embossed with a waterproof stamp by one of four dive-accredited postal workers. This unique “Post Office” was specially created by Vanuatu Post to celebrate Vanuatu’s status as a marine paradise.

Santo, Vanuatu’s second main island, is famous worldwide for scuba diving. Diving in Santo includes the largest diveable wreck in the world, the USS President Coolidge. A second world war two wreck is the USS Tucker; both of these American war wrecks are reasonably accessable to divers who have passed basic diving proficiency tests. Following the end of the war the USA Army drove massive amounts of war surplus off the reef, creating the dive haven known as Million Dollar Point.

The island of Tanna is home to one of the worlds most accessible volcanoes, Mount Yasur. Driving to the base of Tanna’s Yasur volcano, you then walk the final incline, arriving around sunset. As you experience Mt Yasur rumble and feel the ground tremble beneath you, you are reminded you of just how powerful nature is and how tiny we are - an awesome experience.

On the summit of this Tanna Volcano, you can actually look down into the core of molten lava. Then, as the sun goes down, the spectaclar Yasur volcano is framed in red against the blackening sky. After sunset you head back down the Tanna Volcano, using torches to navigate the rocky descent. If the Tanna Volcano doesn’t inspire you - nothing will! Tanna also has a very friendly dugong, which seems to enjoy human company

Last - but by no means least - is Pentecost Island home to one of the world’s most spectacular “manhood” ceremonies - Vanuatu’s Pentecost Land Dive . Pentecost is the home of modern bungee jumping.

Vanuatu is unique in many ways - one being that it is the only place on earth that England and France ruled jointly rather than fight a war over. When you see what a fabulous place Vanuatu is, it is not hard to understand why.

It’s biggest assets are is magnificent natural splendour and its people - if you cannot be happy and relaxed in Vanuatu, you will never be happy anywhere. For an amazing family holiday - or honeymoon - a Vanuatu holiday take some beating. Made up of 83 islands, Vanuatu is located in the South Pacific Ocean near Fiji, New Caledonia, and east of Australia

Happy Easter Day: Gathering Knowledge About Tradition

July 1st, 2009    Subscribe To Our Feed

Learning how to say happy Easter in Spanish is one thing, but if you really want to be able to celebrate this holiday the way that you are supposed to then you are going to have to understand why it is called happy Easter day in the first place. One should try to gather information of the different traditions and their importance that are celebrated on this holiday.

The Story Behind Happy Easter Day

Happy Easter day has become a huge thing around the world, but we have to remember it for what it really is, a religious holiday. It has been commercialized so much with different candies and the Easter bunny, but in all actuality it was about Jesus and is one of the most religious holidays for several religions.

Happy Easter day does have different customs and traditions depending on the culture celebrating it, and so you need to be aware of different cultures and of what different people do to celebrate the holidays, including happy Easter day.

If you go through the Secular Easter traditions you will find that the Easter egg hunts are among the most timeless of all traditions. They take place all around the world from the United Kingdom to Switzerland and Canada, and there is even an annual Easter egg hunt at the White House in Washington in the United States.

Then there is also the Easter bunny on happy Easter day which is a made up character associated with the holiday whom children are told comes around and leaves them candy on Easter morning. It is a fun idea for the kids and they love it and love waking up and seeing all the candy that they have.

For Christians, Easter is not only the oldest and most important but also a closely religious tradition. Passover takes place one week in remembrance of the exodus of the Jews from Egypt.

It is important that we all learn as many details as we can about all the different Easter customs, so that we can be respectable to other people’s cultures and make sure that they are going to be respected and have a great time. One should be kind to others and also try to be happy with what he has on the eve of Easter. If you are religious then you should celebrate Easter without believing in the Easter bunny.

Not going anywhere special this year?

June 29th, 2009    Subscribe To Our Feed

There are many British people this year that are being forced to change thier plans for a holiday this year as the downturn continues to strip the world of money and good times. The pound has taken a giant leap backwards over the past year or so which in turn means that the big family trip to America or the small break to Europe has had to be cancelled. This is meaning that many British people are actually changing thier minds about where they are going on holiday and therefore choosing to stay within Britain.

One of the awful things the recession has done for Britain is that it has made the pound go down heavily in value against not only the Euro but the US Dollar as well which is not going to see any improvements until the world has slowly come out of the current downturn it is in. Of course what everyone needs when going either to Europe or the USA or in fact anywhere is Travel Insurance and this is equally as important even when holidaying in Britain.

What can be seen as a major benefit of holidaying in Britain is the fact that you will not need to take out medical Insurance as you are protected through the NHS within the UK. Having no Insurance is all good and well until something goes wrong, when this happens you could find yourself losing a lot of money without Travel Insurance this could just prove to be a kick in the teeth when something bad has already happened.

Why is Insurance even worth the cash? Foreign Insurance is far more expensive than getting out Insurance here in the UK. Cancellations or not Insurance will cover you from almost anything you can think of. Just because you are sticking to the UK does not mean that personal items will not go missing or even worse get into the hands of a criminal making Travel Insurance useful as it protects you against loss of personal items. Be careful that your home Insurance doesn’t already cover you from loss of possessions away from home though or you will be paying for the same thing twice.

So whether the trip this year leads you to Spain, Mexico, (maybe not at the moment) or Britain having some Travel Insurance is sure to benefit you in some way even if it is just to ease the mind from worry.

Special Occasions

June 28th, 2009    Subscribe To Our Feed

My family only gets together on special occasions, such as Christmas. My grandparents house will usually fill with all my family members, talking and having fun, opening presents, playing games, eating lots of food, while celebrating Christmas. Even though this might sound like fun, trust me, it most certainly is not, or at least for me.

The political careers of nearly all my male family members don’t interest me at all, but this is all they ever talk about. I understand it’s their job, but at least on Christmas, they could talk about something else. There are my cousins around, with who I can talk, and even though I don’t have a lot of things in common with them, and they’re younger than me, it does mean I don’t have to listen to my relatives’ conversations, so it’s great.

Considering the big age difference between me and my cousins, it’s not a big surprise that I ran out of things to talk to them about, and the Christmas movies that were on TV didn’t interest me. Luckily, I remembered a Christmas present that I hadn’t really used, and was just sitting in my drawer.

It was a iriver h10 player, and it was a real life saver. Their conversations just faded away, and I was hearing nothing but my music. My parents were really upset with me, and kept constantly reminding me how rude I was, listening to music all of the time, but I was fine with it. Christmas became much more fun, after discovering my rarely-used present.

When I was old enough to move out from my parents house, I did it, but I still kept my player, and whenever Christmas came, I’d listen to it again. It was probably one of the best Christmas presents I’ve ever received.

How I Portaloo Hire Saved my Holiday

June 25th, 2009    Subscribe To Our Feed

How I Managed to Save My Holiday with Portaloo Hire After completing my exams, my friends and I decided to go camping in DevonBecause we were all heading off to our separate colleges and universities, we wanted this to be a holiday to remember. The campsite was pretty basic, but it didn’t matter, it was next to the beach and had an awesome panorama. We spent the days sunbathing and swimming and at night we would build a campfire and chat to the early hours of the morning.

One night, the weather went from good to bad with torrential rain beating down on our tent.We obviously decided to stay in the tent and played cards til the early morning. The weather was awful, but our tent was as tough as old boots and weathered the storm well.We awoke the next morning and walked down to the showers to find out that the toilets were in disrepair because the bad weather had caused floods.

The farmer who owned the campsite was in a bad situation - he had 150 campers but no toilet facilities for them to visit. The health and safety aspect was pretty big - so the door of his house was open for anyone who was desperate to go.He looked very angry as he tried unsuccessfully to get a plumber to do an emergency call out.I reached in to get my mobile and camly rang my dad.I was about to save the situation - my dad was managing director of a Porta Loo company!

I arranged for the hire of ten portaloos to arrive as quick as possible.I told the farmer what I had organised and he was so grateful.Within the hour one of my Dad’s Porta Loo the driver arrived with the lovely portable toilets on the back. After the driver had a bit of a giggle at the poor farmer’s expense, he told him that he could keep them onsite until his normal toilets and plumbing had been repaired.

My friends and I spent that day at the beach, the sun was beating down and when I returned to the tent that evening, the farmer and his wife had left a thank you note, with some porkpies and bottles of their farm’s own cider. We sat down and enjoyed the presents, and soon bacame best friends with the farmer and his wife.It just goes to show that knowing someone in the portaloo hire business can come in very uselful sometimes!
